Pallet: In the Europen Union, the most common pallet size is 1200 mm by 800 mm. In giving the dimensions of a pallet, the first number is the length of the stringer or stringer board, which is perpendicular to the deckboards, whose length is the second number given. Pallets may be either 4-way, meaning a forklift can lift them from any side, or 2-way, in which case two sides of the pallet are solid and the tines can only be inserted from two sides.

Euro Pallet: The world is moving toward adoption of the Euro pallet system. The standard Euro pallet (ISO 1) is 800 millimeters by 1200 millimeters.-->Back

EPAL Pallets: Manufacturers of EURO pallets must be sanctioned by the European Pallet Association (EPAL), which governs the smallest details, even which types of nails and lumber may be used. -->Back

CP Pallets : Created at the beginning of the Nineties by the VCI (Verband der Chemischer Industry), the CP type pallets are dedicated to the chemical industry. The standard defines nine models of pallets, of CP1 with CP9, being able to carry out several rotations.-->Back

Pallet Forklift : A pallet forklift is a device or vehicle designed to lift items that are stacked or otherwise stored on a pallet, which is a wooden frame designed to support the weight of various goods. The design of a pallet forklift can vary, as some designs are hand-operated and lack a motor, while others feature motors and drive systems that allow a user to drive the lift rather than push or pull it by hand.-->Back

ISPM 15 : ISPM 15 is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood materials of a thickness greater than 6mm, used to ship products between countries. Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport.-->Back

Heat treatment : Heat treatment The wood must be heated to achieve a minimum core temperature of 56 °C for at least 30 minutes. Pallets treated via this method bear the initials HT near the IPPC logo.-->Back

Chemical fumigation : The wood must be fumigated with methyl bromide. Pallets treated via this method bear the initials MB near the IPPC logo. From 19 March 2010 the use of Methyl Bromide as an acceptable treatment according to ISPM15 has now been phased out. -->Back
